Government Increases Flood-Relief Home Cleaning Assistance to Rs. 25,000

Colombo, December 2 – The Ministry of Finance has increased financial aid for cleaning flood‑affected homes and property. Support has been raised from Rs. 10,000 to Rs. 25,000, following the directive of President Anura Kumara Dissanayake in his role as Minister of Finance. The move aims to speed up recovery for communities hit by Cyclone Ditwah. Allocation and Funding Finance Secretary Dr. Harshana Suriyapperuma confirmed the increase was approved after a request from the Disaster Management Centre and in line with presidential instructions. Governance and Implementation Dr. Suriyapperuma noted that the allocations will help restore lives and livelihoods more quickly in affected areas. Future Relief The Ministry stated it is ready to provide additional assistance if required, based on recommendations from the Disaster Management Centre.

UAE Delivers Second Humanitarian Relief Shipment to Sri Lanka

The UAE Air Force’s C‑17 Globemaster aircraft touched down this afternoon carrying emergency supplies. The consignment was formally handed over by Dr. Hamood Al Afari, Head of the Emirati Relief Team, and received on behalf of Sri Lanka by Dr. Anil Jayantha, Minister of Labour and Deputy Minister of Finance and Planning, Anura Karunathilake, Minister of Ports and Civil Aviation, and Janitha Ruwan Kodithuwakku, Deputy Minister of Ports and Civil Aviation.
