The Colombo Municipal Council (CMC) has activated an emergency disaster response from October 16 to 28, in anticipation of heavy rainfall and thunderstorms forecasted across Colombo and nearby areas.

According to the Department of Meteorology, several regions may face temporary flooding and lightning risks during this period.

The CMC confirmed that its disaster management and emergency response teams are fully mobilized to assist affected residents. Citizens are urged to stay alert, avoid flood-prone zones, and report emergencies promptly.
