
Colombo | October 14, 2025 — The Sri Lanka Police have seized and deactivated assets worth Rs. 730 million so far this year, as part of an intensified crackdown on organized crime, according to Police Spokesperson ASP F.U. Wootler.
The confiscated assets include:
- 💰 Rs. 670 million in illicit cash
- 🏠 35 houses
- 🚗 72 vehicles
- 🌾 37 acres of land
- 🪙 354 pounds of gold
These items, believed to have been acquired through illegal means, are now being transferred to state custody.
Long-Term Strategy Against Organized Crime
ASP Wootler stated that the 2025 operations are part of a multi-year strategy to dismantle the financial infrastructure of criminal networks operating across Sri Lanka.
“From 2021 to 2024, we initiated legal action to seize assets worth Rs. 39 billion. In 2025 alone, we’ve already recovered Rs. 730 million, and investigations are still underway,” he said.
