Five suspects—including the landowner—were remanded until October 29 for allegedly conducting an unauthorized treasure excavation in Kumburupitiya, Navachchole.
The Trincomalee Additional Magistrate ordered their transfer to the Kuchchaveli Magistrate’s Court on the same date and requested an archaeological report on the dig site.
Police seized two vehicles, digging tools (mattocks, shovel, crowbar), and religious artefacts linked to the suspects. All items were submitted under B Report No. 479/2025.
