
Colombo – December 15, 2025 The Colombo Magistrate’s Court today ordered the release on bail of Dammika Ranatunga, former Chairman of the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC), who was arrested by the Bribery Commission in connection with alleged financial irregularities.
During proceedings, the Bribery Commission informed the court that it will move to arrest and produce before court former Minister Arjuna Ranatunga, who has been named as a suspect in the case. The allegations center on the awarding of irregular tenders at inflated prices, which reportedly caused a loss of nearly Rs. 800 million to the CPC.
The case highlights ongoing investigations into corruption and mismanagement within state enterprises, with authorities pledging accountability for those implicated.
